An organisation that reaches its centenary deserves recognition and accolades and this timely publication of the story of QMTA from its beginnings in 1921 to the celebrations that marked 100 years in 2021, is more than deserving of such honours.

Written with care and dedication, Professor Peter Roennfeldt relates that unfolding story with fascinating insight into the highs and lows that build and cement and strengthen such an organisation.

The vision of its founders; the personnel of the association who worked tirelessly to consolidate its aims and objectives; the changes that have taken place over the years; the establishment of the branches; the many professional development sessions, concerts and competitions and much more, is all narrated in the author’s relaxed and easy to read style.

Congratulations to the QMTA and to Professor Roennfeldt; this is a publication not to be missed and will be valued for years to come by both music teachers and the wider music community of Queensland.
